Congratulation to YES 2007 graduates!

posted in YES -Youth Enrichment School |

Youth Enrichment School (YES) 2007 was held at BCM from 3rd-12th January. YES, was held for the second year jointly with the Youth Alive Malaysia (YAM). There were a total of 48 participants, comprising mainly fresh school leavers though there were also some older ones, including a young practicing medical doctor! The one common denominator of all participants was a passion for Youth ministry in their local churches. Students obtained 6 credits for the course. This is an incentive for those intending to pursue further studies at BCM.

The course syllabus covered 5 specific areas namely; Leadership, Theology, Ministry, Self Development and Creative Arts. Besides classroom instruction, there was much interaction through groups activities and team building games. There was also visits to social homes. All this, together with the dorm life, enabled many to come away with strong memories. Indeed, they were strengthened spiritually and have received training for leadership and ministry.

The instructors were the YAM committee members, pastors who came together to impart and input into the lives of these young people. The YES closed with a time of prayer, an impartation for all students, and the presentation of their certificates by Rev Clement Wong, Director of YAM.

What they say about YES 2007 …

Joyce Tay: “I learnt a lot of things like intimacy with God, develop new friendships with others and read some Christian books. I love those creative classes.”

Edwin Liew: “I spoke in tongues! I want God to change my attitudes and ME !

Lee Yen Shing: “I was searching for God’s will for my future. I have to choose between nursing and designing. I do not want to regret or blame others for my decision. I have been seeking God desperately. Coming to YES helps me know God’s will”

Leow Joo Ai: “YES is awesome. I learnt the importance of vision, discovered my spiritual gifts, overcome insecurity among crowds, first visit to an orphanage, felt the needs of evangelism and I sensed the presence of God. I have learnt to be bold, strong and courageous.”

Stephen Yau: “YES this year has been great. The lessons were interesting and the speakers were fantastic. On top of that there were creative workshops on dancing, singing, dramas and photography.”

Jonathan Lee: “YES has helped me to get back my vision and purpose for this year!

Jason Lee: “In this short time, I have been through lots of emotional changes but I know God uses all circumstances to build me. To train and to refine me.

Reuben: “God has impressed many things upon my heart. He taught me to quiet down and listen to His voice and that doing His work is secondary to being His person.”

Joel Dass: “A few of us got up at 4am to pray together. This is one habit that I would want to continually do to draw closer to God.”

Celeste Tan: “I battle through spiritual warfare and managed to stay awake in classes. I have a wonderful group in Bridges and we have learnt to pray, work through conflicts and submit to God.”
